EVOKEN Confirmed For Holland's ROADBURN Festival
November 1, 2010New Jersey-based doom/death metal act EVOKEN has been confirmed for a special one-off performance at the 2011 edition of the Roadburn festival, which will run for three days, from Thursday, April 14 to Saturday, April 16 at the 013 venue and Midi Theatre in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional afterburner event on Sunday, April 17, 2011.
EVOKEN was supposed to play the 2010 Roadburn festival, only to get stranded at an airport after volcanic ash clouds grounded planes around the world. EVOKEN is now scheduled to play on Saturday, April 16, 2011 at the 013 venue.
Since 1992, EVOKEN has been combining dark, haunting, atmospheres with soul-crushing riffs and the heaviest, thickest productions within the metal genre. With each song, prepare your voyage into landscapes of misery-drowned subterranean worlds where the music of wayward souls is eternally played by avatars of Orpheus. EVOKEN displays an unparalleled mastery of extreme doom/death metal, establishing the band as one of the leaders in this genre.
Sponsored by Terrorizer and Germany's Rock Hard, the 2011 edition of the Roadburn festival will include GODFLESH's performance of its seminal debut full-length album, 1989's "Streetcleaner", in its entirety, SUNN O)))'s special event, headliner SWANS, CANDLEMASS celebrating 25 years of doom (including a performance of the "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" album in its entirety; featuring original vocalist Johan Längquist),WOVENHAND and WARDRUNA (the dark ambient folk project led by former GORGOROTH drummer Kvitrafn).
